The Bulldogs(Redux)

Old thread was cluttered, and much edited.  These are my expanded and munchier Bulldogs.  Why make the toys if one never gets to play with them? Wink

1 Btn
12 Falconers
24 Thunderbolt 7SEs

2 Btn
24 PXH-6D
12 PXH-3PL

3 Btn
24 Starslayer STY-3D
12 Shadow Hawk SHD-5D

Independent Assault Company
12 Gunslingers

Preferred tactics are relatively simple: the Bulldogs like to use their assault company and 3 Battalion to maintain a base of fire and maneouvre 1 and 2 Battalions.  The hoverdrop is also a favourite tactic, allowing the slower units to get close without taking as much enemy fire.

Re: The Bulldogs(Redux)

The Bulldogs Armoured Regiment supports the Mech regiment.  They're relatively fast overall, to keep up with 1 and 2 Battalions.  They have a very strong air defence battalion among these forces, which operates as seperate companies more often than not.  This stems from several decisive battles in which lack of air support was telling.

Armoured Btn
40 Myrmidon Tanks

VTOL Btn
8 Sprint(standard) - standard spotter and reece VTOL
4 Sprint(Troop) - typically for battlefield pickup and medevac

12 Karnov(Periff) - used for strike and suppression missions

8 Warrior H-7 - general purpose design
4 Warrior H-7C - ground support/general purpose

ADA Btn
12 Vedettes(LB-5X) - chiefly for anti-VTOL work, operates with the spearhead units

4 Challenger XI - Fully networked C3 enabled company.  Provides direct fire FlaK.
4 Partisan C3S
4 Partisan Quad RAC/2s

12 Arrow IV Demolishers - The core of the ADA unit.  Equipped with new and experimental AA missiles.

Supported by the Bulldogs only Dropships, a battered old Titan and a Leopard CV.

Re: The Bulldogs(Redux)

The Bulldog infantry assets are limited, but potent.  A foot infantry company exists for security purposes, but is not an offensive unit.  Two companies of battle armour operate in conjunction with the Blackhawk KUs.

3 MG Foot Platoons
12 Squads Infiltrator Mk2
12 Squads IS Standard

Re: The Bulldogs(Redux)

Formed from Northwind Highlanders unable to reconcile their unit's abrupt departure from the Capellan Confederation, the Bulldogs initially served House Liao.  Despite the CapCon's desperate need for Mech units, they were viewed with suspicion and mistrust, and even kept out of the fighting during the Andurien-Canopian War.When their contract ran out in 3036, they signed on with the St Ives Compact, a compromise that served their honour and kept them gainfully employed.  Light raiding and wargames kept the Bulldog at regular status.  During the Clan Invasion, they allowed their contract to be sold to the Federated Commonwealth.  Shortly before this time, Colonel Gordon 'Sting' Sumter had assumed command from his parents.  Clan Jade Falcon was not a kind teacher to what had been essentially a garrison command: almost all their armour support was lost in the initial engagement, and their mech battalion was whittled down to a mere company.  A mere two battles and the FedCom was content to let the shattered Bulldogs limp back to Coventry, where they served as garrison and were helpful in the proving trials of the Blackhawk KU.  A much stronger and considerably rebuilt unit emerged for Operation: BULLDOG and signed on with the Draconis Combine.  Five years of rebuilding on Coventry and drawing on large numbers of other destroyed mercenary commands looking for payback against the Clans came to its culmination: the destruction of the Smoke Jaguars.  The Bulldogs fought on several worlds, losing two companies of Mechs, but gaining valuable combat experience.

On their return to the Inner Sphere, they were thrust quickly into the St Ives War and acquitted themselves admirably against the CCAF.  This was a different war, a war where the odds were against them, and the Capellans ground them down.  Mech losses were not as heavy as pilot losses.  The reconquista of the Compact left the Bulldogs with no contract, and they performed a few jobs in the Chaos March for ComStar before signing on with the Capellan March.  During the remainder of the FCCW, they returned to their past life and garrisoned various production facilities, absorbing various small units and other shattered commands to return to full strength.  Exchanging various captured Clan and Capellan BattleMechs, they were able to rate a full upgrade; few units boast more Star League technology.  Their ComStar job had resulted in payment with an battered old Titan-class DropShip.  Sting made great efforts to acquire more aerospace fighters, and a contract with Johnston Industries and George Hasek's blessing made the Bulldogs one of the first merc units to field the Dagger, along with Lyran bought Eisensturms.  A long term contract with the Federated Suns has shown its first fruits, with an entire battalion of the new PXH-6D delivered to the Bulldogs with their posting on New Avalon.
