All good news there...  hopefully that will quiet some of the "gloomy gus"es.

I'm curious as to who bought the other properties... WOTC?  SJG?

According to Jake Theis of Pinata  http://www.saveheroclix.com/

Quote
We (Pinata) have reached a deal in principle with the new game company formed to purchase HeroClix.  We're on-board and once their deal with Topps closes, we'll be back working fulltime on HeroClix.  Whew!

so I think that rules out WotC and SJG

Emphasis mine and I like the sound of it.  Now I'm going to have haunt the Battleshop for the rest of the day and hope I'm not reading that wrong.

I had speculated this when I saw the sneak peak cover art.  * Does a happy dance. *

Hooray for BATTLETECH!  Hip Hip HOORAY!

HB:MPS almost done, and HL on schedule more good news.
So was he serious that the Dasher is out?  I can read that either way.

And thanks rooster for the transcript.  Afro

Thank god. Not so much for the change of logo (actually, I find it a little lop-sided), but for the fact that SOMETHING is getting released.

I know there was corporate limbo, but that hasn't curbed my addiction any.

Also, I think I can see why they'd pull the Dasher. It pops too fast, and one or two maps is rarely enough to really squeeze out the most of the Dasher's speed.

Furthermore, if they add Citytech maps to the box set (or any other pavement/water heavy maps), the Dasher would be in a world of trouble.

They would have probably put something like the Koshi or Dragonfly in it's place to fill the scout 'mech hole.

I am not 100% on whether or not I understand, but is this specifically for novels, or is this for all of the sourcebooks to be published in the future?

There will be no 'Classic' or 'MechWarrior' sub brands any longer...only one master brand, BattleTech.

Re: 2009-0321 chat transcript

And the six sub-brands correspond to the five eras announced last year - plus DA.  So you have:
Star League 2570-2780ish
Succession Wars 2780-3040ish (emphasis on 3025 and 3039)
Clan Invasion 3050-3060
Civil War 3060-3067
Jihad 3067-3081
Dark Age 3130-
And as of yet the Age of War is basically lumped into the Star League era, and nothing is being written in the 50 yrs between Jihad and Dark Age.

Also, I think I can see why they'd pull the Dasher. It pops too fast, and one or two maps is rarely enough to really squeeze out the most of the Dasher's speed.

Also, if you stop and think about that this is an introductory product, the Fire Moth's MASC is a bit more complicated then Targetting Computer, pulse lasers, or the clans longer range, more damage weapons. It really is not well suited for an introductory product.

Re: 2009-0321 chat transcript

JHS76, JTP:Tharkad, and a slew of Battleforce Counters.  I picked up Tharkad, looks as awesome as the first two.  Lots of Warships.  And Peter's Fafnir.
For those who pick up '76, I would likelove a breakdown on what is in the rules section (just a Table of Contents overview).  Since my Jihad campaign is over, and my games are diverging timeline-wise the bulk of the book is of marginal use/interest, but I may still buy it if the rules section is juicy enough (honestly I'm about 50/50 on buying sight unseen, so a little push would do it).

As opposed to the Gladiator's MASC, which is much simpler.

Re: 2009-0321 chat transcript

Isn't using a name like the "BattleTech: Civil War" maybe bit too...limiting or narrowing?  Battletech history and evens span multiple centuries...not narrow span of time of less 70-80 years.

Its saying significant "Civil War" there ever was FedCom Civil War...
FWL had multiple civil wars, heck 1st Star League had civil war if you go by random names that been attached to Amaris Coupe, was Star League Civil War.   These era definitions don't work very well unless you want live in 31st century forever.

Another that i'm curious about. I'm happy Battletech is called Battletech again.  However, won't this cause problems with the retailers with name of product line going from "Classic Battletech" to "Battletech"?  By now their used going by the Classic name on it and won't that cause some sort problems?  Like there new product line instead of a product line simple changing its name?

No Dasher is really irritating with dead weight like the Koshi and Uller to choose from. A return to "Battletech" is just awesome though so I'll try not to gripe.

Just because you haven't been told the name of that era doesn't mean it won't exist.

What I mean is there isn't one currently because there won't be any products in that 50yr period for a couple of years (probably none before 2011 at the earliest).

Re: 2009-0321 chat transcript

I'm so glad that it's returning to plain old "BattleTech." While hate would be too strong a word, I really, really disliked the "Classic" moniker.

Also, I think "BattleTech: A Time of War" is a good title for the RPG. I wondered what they would come up with.  Afro
