Ok hot off the bench is this Royal Phoenix Hawk variant, I found the Unseen Phoenix Hawk at the bottom of a small pile of miniatures I had set aside to repair quite a while ago. Well you all know what it’s like you start off with the notion of doing something and you end up getting side tracked and either forget about what you were going to do in the first place and you simply put those miniatures into a box and they in turn end up being the start of yet another bits box…. (What a vicious circle) Anyway this Phoenix Hawk ‘s arm had snapped off and I had intended to repair it but I had forgotten about it hence it was in the bits box, so I thought I’d try something different and mod it into a royal Phoenix Hawk. I had a cool idea to base the kit bash on the Robotech Strike Veritech as the fluff for the Royal Phoenix Hawk mentions a swivel mounted ER Large laser mounted in the right torso, and as the Robotech Strike Veritech has twin mounted partical canons mounted in the right side torso / thruster I thought that this would look cool and be a good starting point for this little project. So as the left arm needed to be reattached I went ahead and pinned it back but the opposite way around so instead of hand on hip pose as you can see its hand out in the open pose just to be a bit different, the thrusters I recently got in a trade with Cazaril, as soon as I received them it was a case of out with the razor saw, pin vice and my little box of useful bits n bobs to recreate the Strike veritech’s thruster and weapon mount which was made from a off cut of spru and a couple of BB gun pellet heads and a spare Rifleman’s weapon. Enjoy zac Here is a bigger and more in focus snap.

It's a joke, Gunz - in all the years I've been here, or on LoTB, I think I've seen hundreds of excellent Ava Mango customs, of which about 2 have been painted

It's a joke, Gunz - in all the years I've been here, or on LoTB, I think I've seen hundreds of excellent Ava Mango customs, of which about 2 have been painted This is quite true im afraid over the years ive pretty much lost count of the kit bashes ive done needless to say there has been quite a few, however im not sure what the stumbling block is but cant seem to put paint brush to metal and get the results I want or visualize. I just don’t know as you can see I can still work with miniatures to a reasonable degree and my drawing skills are on the same par and I have a very good eye for color, but when it comes to painting I guess as im not in full control of the paint brushes I tend to lose a lot of my confidence. Now ive hit my 40’s I like to blame it on my eye sight even though ive started to wear reading glasses, but a few years ago I had to retire from full time work due to a serious back injury which effects the amount of time I can sit in comfort, so these days when I can afford it I like to commission my kit bashes out to the Pro painters when I can afford too. Believe me it hurts looking at my display cabinet with only a hand full of painted miniatures on the shelves, but not being able to work does affect your way of living to a degree and as much as I would love to see more of my work painted up im afraid RL has to take priority. zac

Fantastic. What does the Royal Phoenix Hawk normally carry for weapons? I've always really liked the PHawk, just not the major heat problems of the 3025 version.

Ah, yes, adding the upgraded weapons, and much needed double heat sinks, while maintaining the maneuverability, really makes this one a winner. Although the XL engines scare me a bit, but you can't have everything without giving up something.
